How do I engage my board in fundraising?

It’s the #1 question we are asked by organizational leaders year over year.

We know that old methods for board fundraising don’t work. When board members are pressured to solicit their peers for support, it leads to board member anxiety, disengagement, and dissatisfaction. And the worst part? It doesn’t result in gifts. Turns out we have been thinking about how to partner with our boards in all the wrong ways.

Rather than pushing board members to solicit gifts, we need to both rethink and better utilize board members’ experiences. We need to intentionally involve them in the process of cultivating, and thanking, and stewarding donors.

In doing so, we bolster true engagement and partnership between staff and boards.  And offer current and prospective donors a more personalized and authentic experience that leverages their personal skills and experiences.

Stephanie Schwartz helps increase engagement in nonprofit board fundraising

Stephanie led a workshop for our board that was informative, engaging, and inspiring.

She shared personal examples that underscored the importance of cultivating relationships, sharing passions and causes, and providing multiple touchpoints for ongoing engagement. She was able to relate to and tailor our discussion to our organizational niche and size and provide guidance for our board’s fundraising efforts.

Stephanie is extremely relatable and knowledgeable, drawing on her deep experience as a fundraiser and consultant and imparting her knowledge in clear and compelling ways.”
